We invite you to participate with CWC to inspire the next generation of leaders through Innovation. 

Innovation is all around us but what is it?
  • Innovation is frequently defined as: Original, unexpected, fresh, never been thought of before, never been seen before, creative, new, and useful.
  • Innovation can be actions such as: Challenging conventional notions of how things have been done before, and bringing ideas from one industry to another, or from one geographic region to another.
  • Innovation as a strategy can be: Finding new ways to do business, find new tools to get things done, find resources to help customers get what they need, find new information avenues to promote lifelong learning, and create meaningful impact on our careers.

CWC is devoted to keeping pace with the changes around us. Complacency is not an option. In this increasingly educated and talented world, we must focus on how to innovate and work better with each other to grow professionally, learn to use new innovations, and to create a professional culture that encourages innovation.

CWC is working with the Employment Development Department (EDD) to understand its training needs and searching for innovative delivery systems to meet the needs of EDD staff for professional development.

  • California Workforce Development Board can provide up to date descriptions about local and regional initiatives along with Workforce Innovation Publications, PowerPoints and Webinars-Big Ideas in Workforce Innovation.

  • The California Labor & Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) is an executive branch agency that provides leadership to protect and improve the well-being of California’s current and future workforce.   • Future of Work Commission – On International Workers’ Day, Governor Newsom signed an executive order (PDF) establishing the Future of Work Commission and announced the leaders from technology, labor, business, education, venture capital, and other sectors across the state who will make a substantial commitment to serve on the engaged and action-oriented Commission. The Governor has also tasked California Labor Secretary Julie Su, Chief Economic Advisor Lenny Mendonca, and Senior Advisor on Higher Education Lande Ajose to help lead the Commission’s work.  The overarching goal of the Future of Work Commission is to develop a new social compact for California workers, based on an expansive vision for economic equity that takes work and jobs as the starting point.                                                          Visit the Future of Work Commission website
  • National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) is the national organization representing all 50 state workforce agencies, D.C. and U.S. territories. These agencies deliver training, employment, career, and business services, in addition to administering the unemployment insurance, veteran reemployment, and labor market information programs.   • The EDD Open Data Portal provides access to view and download data and information related to California industries, occupations, employment projections, wages, and labor force. The data can be used to better understand California’s economy, to make informed labor market decisions, as a tool to direct efforts to promote the state’s overall economic health, support workforce development, and much more.              Visit: EDD Open Data Portal
  • CALVETS can help Veteran Representative learn about the state and federal benefits Veterans are entitled to receive and how to claim them. Those benefits could compensate Vets for a service-connected disability, allow Vets to begin or resume college education, care for Vets health, train for or find employment, buy a home, live out their years with dignity and respect, and much more!
